WHO'S TO BLAME DADDY?
"Who's to blame, daddy?" ©
.
A man has to support his family, no matter what the cost;
Whether warm or cold, Blizzard or frost.
Everyone has debts, No man is free;
Our family was no different, in February '83'.
We'd always been poor, Never had good luck;
But I wish Daddy'd been a bum, instead of driving a truck.
A man has to support his family, that's what they say;

And with that in mind, Daddy left yesterday.
We were in the kitchen, sneaking ourselves a snack;
Mommy came in crying, Said: "Daddy's not coming back."
People keep calling, saying that it's a shame;
Did the President shoot my Daddy? They say HE'S to blame.
Now Mommy's angry, she says the union is bad;
I don't know what that means, I just love and miss my Dad.
Guy P. Drumm

This poem, in my case isn't true. My father wasn't a trucker, and I believe in unions. It is, however every mans resposibility to act intelligently, even if he isn't; and no man has the right to deny another man feeding his family. If you feel violence is the only answer, destroy a mans property, if you must; but don't destroy a man! Written on Feb. 3,1983 after a "Scab" was killed during a Teamsters strike!
